I think the scariest part about being an entrepreneur as opposed to working in corporate America is when you spend money. [00:50]
In this episode of the Fierce as F*ck podcast, Amanda explains the importance of being willing to spend money on investments in order to successfully expand your business.
Spending resources wisely isn’t something that you consciously do while working for your corporate company. The reason being, it’s not really your own money that you’re spending, right? The same cannot be said if you’ve just jumped into the entrepreneur world. As soon as you jump into that CEO role, you will start to recognize and become more closely associated with every single dollar that you spend.
One of the goals that every business and company in the world have in common is to grow and eventually expand. One of the mistakes that you can commit as an owner early on, is making an attempt to do everything on your own. You think that by doing this, you get to save and you get to have 100% of the profit, when in fact, what’s happening is the exact opposite.
Truth is, you’re not a superhero. There’s no way that you can juggle several different plates as one individual. While you think that doing everything is the most cost-efficient way to conduct your business, it turns out to be the most effective and surefire way to burn your way out of business.
It’s also the surest way to allow your business to start to crumble beneath you, just because you’re not willing to let go of the proverbial steering wheel. You are being held back by fear of not being in control and the line of thought that, “I can’t spend (that much) money.
The main reason why it’s a fairly common practice for a business to outsource tasks is, you cannot do it all. You will have to invest in resources in order for your business to grow.
If you continue to juggle all of the plates, and if you insist on doing everything yourself, you will not last.
“This is a big thing. This is a lot of money that's coming out. But, every dollar I spend, on my business, comes back times 10.” [17:00]
